Running is hard. Addiction recovery is even harder.
You can’t get up one day and run a marathon. In recovery, you can’t say one day, “I can stay sober for the rest of my life.”
It takes one day at a time, one choice at a time to show up and grow and be in healthy community.
The Portland Rescue Mission running club is a place where volunteers and participants alike can run together in community, grow in wholistic health, and work through the hard stuff of life while on the road — together.
Here are 10 ways Portland Rescue Mission will meet the needs of men, women and children facing homelessness, addiction and the summer heat this year. This will be a record-breaking season of hope at Portland Rescue Mission.
Our Burnside Shelter at Portland Rescue Mission needs a new roof. We are calling on you to help us spread the word about our “RAISE THE ROOF” Campaign. You can set up your own fundraising team, join a team or give a donation today towards the Burnside Shelter Roof.

For 70 years Portland Rescue Mission has existed to Give Hope and Restore Life to men, women and children suffering from hunger, homelessness and addiction. It is under the Burnside Shelter roof that our guests find critical resources like hot meals, safe shelter and access to short and long term recovery programs. Most importantly, they’ll find a community that truly cares.
