Portland Rescue Mission has many locations, but every month staff from across all the sites come together to serve at the Burnside Shelter. From handing out plates of warm breakfast to wiping down tables and clearing trays, staff interact with the guests coming through the shelter. For many, it’s a chance to center themselves, reminding them why they come to work each morning.
“Burnside is at the heart of what we do at Portland Rescue Mission,” staff member Erin Hall explained. “…When people come from the recovery locations or admin offices they can get out and mix up their day and see what we do here and get to know the guests. It reminds us of what we are about here.”
Cultivating a culture of people who value hard work, caring for others, and a Biblically-based ministry environment is an essential part of Portland Rescue Mission. Our mission is to give hope and restore life to hurting men, women and children. Our staff and volunteers are a vital part of making that mission a reality.
