Real estate with real heart: Sylvia Groce partners with Portland Rescue Mission

Sylvia Groce, Portland Rescue Mission, Windermere

Sylvia Groce is a realtor at Windermere Stellar/Lloyd Tower in Portland.

The biggest joys in life can come in the most unexpected ways, and for Sylvia Groce, that came in the form of a Triumph TR6 she bought from Drive Away Hunger.

“We were surprised that this car lot even existed, and we were so happy to find out that the cars donated go to raise money to not only help ‘Drive Away Hunger,’ but help people with overcoming drug and alcohol addictions,” she said.

After searching long and hard for the car they were looking for, they swung by the Drive Away Hunger lot on Ne 83rd and NE Halsey and picked it up that very same day. They enjoyed their experience so much that they have since bought another car from the Mission and have referred several friends to do the same.

“We even had a neighbor donate her beautiful Mercedes to the Mission,” Sylvia said excitedly. “We are 100 percent behind the Mission’s values and beliefs. We support the organization greatly.”

So much so, in fact, that Sylvia has decided to extend her support even further.

As a Real Estate Broker for Windermere (Windermere Stellar/Lloyd Tower), she decided that she wants to personally donate $600 back to the Mission on every closed transaction of her customers.

“It would make me very happy to know that through these donations, I can help someone make a permanent change and find success in their lives. I can help someone have complete healing and freedom from drug and alcohol addiction. I am able to help end homelessness and hunger,” she explained. “It’s very rewarding to think about.”

And the Mission could not be more grateful for Sylvia’s partnership as we give hope and restore life together.

(You can reach Sylvia for your real estate needs by email at [email protected]. Drive Away Hunger is open from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday).
