Pacific Power Partners with Portland Rescue Mission

As the COVID-19 crisis persists in the Northwest, local businesses are rising to help Portland Rescue Mission and other community organizations meet the challenge. Pacific Power’s charitable arm, the Pacific Power Foundation, has committed $250,000 immediate support to critical-serving organizations in Oregon, Washington, and California. Portland Rescue Mission received a $15,000 grant from Pacific Power that will strengthen our efforts to fight COVID-19 on behalf of the guests we serve.

“Food banks and other critical organizations serve the most vulnerable populations in our communities and are under tremendous strain,” said Stefan Bird, president, and CEO. “The Pacific Power Foundation is committed to supporting vital community organizations that depend and survive on contributions like this.”

Eric Bauer, Executive Director of Portland Rescue Mission, spoke on the value of partners like Pacific Power in helping our neighbors who are struggling during this crisis.

Pacific Power’s generous gift of $15,000 has been very timely support during this pandemic crisis. This gift helps cover new expenses due to increased service needs such as up to 1500 meals a day, which is a 65% increase. This funding also covered expenses for to-go containers and utensils for meals at our Burnside Shelter, and provided equipment and supplies to protect the safety and health of our guests, staff, and volunteers,” said Eric Bauer, Portland Rescue Mission Executive Director.

“Portland Rescue Mission receives no government funding so all our services are provided through the generous compassion of people, foundations, churches, and companies like Pacific Power that have a genuine commitment to the health and well being of some of the most vulnerable people in our community.”

Thank you Pacific Power for coming together to support the least of these.
