At Portland Rescue Mission, the holidays are a very special time. Since many of the men, women and children that come through our programs have often had painful memories of holidays past, the staff at the Mission are blessed with the opportunity to offer up a more hopeful and positive narrative of the season for many years to come. For the staff that works directly with the residents of our New Life Ministries, along with the people who come through our Hope and Pathway Ministries, the significance of their ministry during this time of year, in particular, is so important.
So, if you’ve ever wondered how you can maximize your impact, and you’re passionate and excited about making a difference in the life of someone else, the Mission has a place for you.
Do you love kids? If so, our Children’s Ministry Center has an immediate need for someone to help organize activities, curriculum, and other related things for the children of the women of Shepherd’s Door. Or, perhaps you don’t want to do that, but you do want to just love on some kids during the week—there’s a position for you too.
Or, if men’s ministry is your passion, The Harbor (our New Life Ministry for men) is looking to fill multiple positions as well, including a Men’s Case Manager (Growth Leader) and an Intake and Advocacy Specialist, among other positions. Both positions work directly with helping the men in our program break free from the chains of addiction and recovery.
We also have positions available at Mission Bar-B-Que (our newest vocational enterprise), Drive Away Hunger and the Burnside Shelter (specifically on our Night Ministry team and involved with our women’s Connect Ministry).
Whatever your specialty, one thing that’s consistent at the Mission is that all of our positions work together to give hope and restore life to the men, women and children we serve daily.
