Preschool

Our Preschool classroom (four and five year olds), is one that is filled with learning. Our goal is to help children attain the necessary skills that will successfully move them into kindergarten.

Curriculum focuses on basic core knowledge skills, letters, numbers, colors, as well as life skills and healthy social interactions. Children learn through play so classroom themes permeate all they do in their day. This includes pretend play (Store, House, Post Office, Etc.), letter writing, counting, gross motor, and fine motor skills, art, music, reading, group and individual play time.

Shepherd's Door Children's Center views parents as vital partners in their child's ongoing development. Preschool teachers communicate with parents through daily check-ins, monthly newsletters, regular progress reports and parent-teacher meetings. Preschool teachers compile a portfolio for each child, including art projects, developmental achievement and progress reports.

There is limited space open now in our morning preschool class.
