Elementary Students
Kindergarten through 5th grade children attend the local public school and join us during school breaks in the Children's Center. Shepherd's Door Children's Center partners with parents and teachers encouraging each student to excel in all arenas of school life. We offer on-site tutoring, attend parent/teacher meetings and guidance as needed. Our desire is to see parents fully engaged in their student's educational process and we purpose to support them in every way possible. In the Children's Center Elementary students enjoy activities and relationships that encourage them to grow, heal and learn. Activities include art projects, acting games, field trips, cooking, reading, journaling, outdoor games and more. Children can be found making posters to tell about themselves, using puppets to tell their personal story, or simply learning how to be friends and live in their families.
Elementary students engage in a daily process of self-evaluation. This process enables them to take responsibility for affecting the environment around them and get support to assist them in making plans to change.
