Total Life Recovery

Our New Life Recovery program addresses every aspect of a hurting person’s life:

ADDICTIONS RECOVERY
Counseling helps men and women heal from the root causes that have driven them to addiction, setting them free to live a healthy life.

SPIRITUAL RENEWAL
Bible study, prayer and worship are a regular part of daily life, drawing men and women closer to God.

LIFE SKILLS
Men and women prepare for a successful new life through adult education, job training and practical life skills.

Portland Rescue Mission is more than just a soup kitchen by the Burnside Bridge.

The essential emergency services we offer, like food and shelter, open the door to deeper relationships with our homeless guests. From there, we’re able to offer a powerful solution to the root causes of homelessness: our New Life Recovery Ministry.

“I was just medicating my shame, guilt and self-hatred with alcohol and bad relationships.
Here I found healing – from the inside out.”
~ Kathleen, New Life Recovery Graduate

Over the course of 12- to 18-months, recovery residents experience healing in every aspect of their lives through addiction recovery, counseling, education, life skills training and spiritual renewal.

  • Up to 45 men participate in New Life Recovery at our Burnside Shelter and Next Step site.
  • Up to 37 women and their children experience recovery in a beautiful and nurturing environment at Shepherd’s Door.
  • Children experience their own growth and healing through our state-certified Children’s Center at Shepherd’s Door.
