“Add A Meal” this weekend and New Seasons will match!
The annual “Hunger Match” at New Seasons is this weekend, and you can be a part of it! If you’re planning on shopping for groceries, come to one of the three participating New Seasons locations (Seven Corners, Sellwood and Concordia) on June 11-12 and “Add a Meal” for a $1.60. For every meal added, New Seasons will match up to $1,000 at each of the three stores—each meal providing another opportunity to give hope and restore life to men and women suffering from homelessness and addiction right here in the Portland area.
“It is so heartwarming and joyful to know that each small donation, collectively, makes a big difference right here in our community,” Chenoa Philabaum said, Community Relations for New Seasons. “Last year alone, our customers donated nearly $40,000 to Portland Rescue Mission.”
In other words, through the “Add A Meal” program at New Seasons, you helped provide 25,000 meals and care to our guests at the Burnside Shelter!
Since New Seasons opened its first store in 2000, giving has been part of their DNA. Committed to giving 10% of their after-tax profits away, lining up its role as a grocer with the hope of ending hunger in the Portland area was a top priority. And over the years, as profits have grown, so has their giving.
“I think our generosity inspires our customers. And our customer’s generosity certainly inspires us,” Chenoa explained. “You begin to realize that even your smallest efforts can have a big impact.”
