Give Portland’s Homeless a Happy Birthday

Listen to a brief audio clip of birthday stories from our clients »

Birthdays are supposed to be a happy occasion, where family and friends gather around and cheer you on. However, for the homeless birthdays are often far from being “happy”.

Once a year the Portland Rescue Mission holds a birthday party for the homeless sponsored by Fred Meyer. On Wednesday February 20th, the Portland Rescue Mission staff, volunteers and New Life Program members will sing Happy Birthday to the lonely homeless guests who frequent our Mission. Fred Meyer will decorate the Dining Room and serve cake and ice cream. Each homeless guest present will receive a card you send to let them know you remember them and care.
