WEEK ONE, July 1–3
  • We say goodbye this week to Daloris Flaming, our Gift Processing Manager. She has served the Finance Ministry with knowledge, confidence and humility for 10 years, and she did much more than what her job title required. She supported events and efforts in outreach and recovery, both in her presence and service. She knows many residents by name, goes to church with graduates, and knows the stories of so many guests from her decade here. She and her husband are moving to Clinton, Oklahoma, to help support a church. Please pray this week that God would bless their time there. She will truly be missed!

WEEK TWO, July 4–10

  • We have a large number of women at Shepherd’s Door with mental health issues. Many women are on medications, but if meds get skipped, extra challenges come up. Pray for God to heal the hearts and minds of the women at Shepherd’s Door. Pray for Him to truly enter in and turn lives around.
  • One employee at Shepherd’s Door is looking for a roommate, and has been for some time. She owns a home in Vancouver, and she is looking for a Christian woman to share that place with. As many of our staff are in periods of transition—getting married, moving, starting families—please pray especially for this woman, that she might find the right roommate and be freed from this burden.

WEEK THREE, July 11–17

  • Change is constant at the Mission. This week, pray for our New Life Recovery Ministry teams, that they would continue to embrace change and to implement better methods of recovery for our residents. Pray that they would adapt to outside changes well, and that they would spearhead positive changes from within. Next Step, home to men in later phases of recovery, might face a move in the future, so pray for God to lead our decision on that.
  • We ask this week that you pray for the fundraising efforts at the Mission. Pray for our donors and for new sources of support. Pray that we collaborate well with other organizations in order to raise funds and use them to the best end possible. Pray that our staff would seek God’s purpose in their work as they support frontline staff who work directly with guests and residents.

WEEK FOUR, July 18–24

  • A staff member is traveling with his wife to Zambia, Africa, to adopt a baby girl this week. This is an exciting time for them, as well as for their two children, as they get ready to welcome a third child into their family. Pray for their safe travels and for the Zambian government’s permission to return to the States in a timely manner. Our staff at Burnside will be stretched to make-up for this staff’s absence, so pray for their stamina as well.
  • Staff and volunteers at the Mission works tirelessly to improve the appearance of all of our sites. Aside from painting walls, polishing floors and improving the grounds, we hope to fill walls with uplifting artwork. Pray this week for art—from donors, volunteers and even residents. We want to fill this place with images of hope!

WEEK FIVE, July 25–31

  • God is at work in the streets of Portland! We watch everyday as men and women come to the Mission, finally ready to ask for help. They know they have real friends here. Pray diligently this week for revival on the streets outside the doors of Burnside Shelter. Pray for honesty, for true need, for acceptance, for truth. Pray for outreach volunteers who will take compassionate care to the streets, spreading information about the Mission and the Good News of Christ. Pray for His will to be done here in Portland, every day.
