


Jan Marshall
Jan was born and raised in the St. Louis area. She attended and graduated from the Appalachian Bible College in Bradley W.VA. in 1970. Jan married in 1970 and moved to Los Angeles where her two children were born (Kimberly and Kristen) and where her husband Jerry was on the staff of the Union Rescue Mission. In 1979 she moved to Erie, PA where she and Jerry worked at the City Mission and where she founded the Evergreen Training Center for Women and their children. In 1991 she and Jerry moved to Memphis, TN where he became director and she worked with women and children's ministries. In 1995 they moved to New Castle, PA where Jan left rescue ministry and began working with funeral homes designing aftercare programs for the bereaved. In 1997 she began her consulting business for women's shelters. In 2000 she was called to consult with the Portland Rescue Mission and soon after asked to come on staff as the Director of Women's Ministries. She began that job in February of 2001. Her personal studies have been in the areas of personality differences, gender differences, bereavement and how to relate loss and healing to the clients who come into our shelters today. She has spent the last six years studying interpreting for the deaf and enjoys signing. Her favorite role in life is that of being a grandmother to two beautiful granddaughters, Lauren and Megan, who live with their parents in West Virginia. |
